Robert Pace

Robert Pace is a native Houstonian and a graduate of Texas Tech and the University of Houston’s Law Center. Licensed since 2017, Mr. Pace is a dedicated criminal trial lawyer who brings a wealth of experience to the Downey Law Firm. As a former felony prosecutor for the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office, Robert cut his teeth trying numerous cases to verdict. As a prosecutor, Mr. Pace handled a wide range of criminal cases including DWI, Fraud, Assault Family Member, Terroristic Threat, Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, Burglary, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Robbery, and Murder. Over the years and among his peers, Mr. Pace has developed a reputation in the courtroom as a skilled and prepared advocate who aggressively defends his clients.

 

During his time with Galveston, Mr. Pace held numerous responsibilities including as an intake division prosecutor where he served as the gate keeper between police officers and the Courts. In this position, Robert learned the critical intricacies of search warrants and the elements that must be included in sworn warrant affidavits. He worked with law enforcement to ensure that their affidavits and investigations were airtight before presenting those search warrants to judges who authorized their execution. He now uses this valuable experience to analyze and scrutinize search warrants and to hold law enforcement to their constitutionally required duties when they perform searches on clients. Search warrants often constitute critical evidence in DWI cases, searches of cell phones, murders, sexual assaults and drug cases in both State and Federal courts.

 

In his time as a prosecutor, Mr. Pace also served in the Juvenile Division where he handled numerous violent crimes and drug offenses. He has a thorough understanding of the juvenile certification process which allows children to be prosecuted as adults. Since joining the Downey Law Firm in 2021, Mr. Pace has utilized his broad experience to secure dismissals on numerous cases and most recently has assisted in obtaining not guilty verdicts in multiple murder trials. He is licensed to practice in state courts throughout Texas as well as in the United States District Courts of the Southern District of Texas.
